Saint Gobain BC-412 PREMIUM Scintillation Plastic Crystal Material.
2 pieces both 1.5 inch thick both are 3.5 X 3.5 inches +, one has one polished side,one has no polished sides, both have both faces polished
Since this material uses TIR (Total Internal Reflection) the photon output is equal at all surfaces so a small PMT mounted on the edge or face will work very well.
I like the pancake flipper style best since a small diameter P.M.T. can be integrated into a handle and coupled to a large surface area crystal.
Great for GAMMA scintillation from 100 KEV to 5 MEV , Fast Neutrons , Charged Particles , Cosmic Rays , Muons , Protons , Etc. , and pretty good BETA if the window material is kept thin.
Big enough to cover the face of a 3 inch P.M.T. ++ or make smaller crystals.
Can be coupled to a photo diode or P.M.T.
Easy to work with files , sand paper , hack saw , Dremel tool or larger as long as the cuts are slow so as not to get the plastic hot or it will become sticky and bind the tool.

The blue and lavender coloring is from ultraviolet light and not radiation however the material is putting out thousands of photons per minute just from the normal background radiation.
The photons produced from this material is in the 500 nanometer area and can't be seen with the naked eye.
