This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a complete robotic system for all your automation needs! The system includes an Epson EH853S robot arm, 520 Controller and power drive unit, cables, and progressive camera for vision operations!
This system was manufactured in 2004.
This system was originally purchased in 2007 for use in an automated assembly process. However, things changed, and the system was never used for that purpose! Instead, it was utilized sparingly, in light-duty applications, such as R&D.
All original manuals and spec sheets can be downloaded from the Epson web site.
Epson supports this model and the software as well.
Epson is considered one of the best (if not THE best!) manufacturer of robotic assembly equipment in the world today!

The EH853S/EH853AS/DS SCARA Robots are made for applications where heavy payload is required. While holding a payload of up to 33 pounds, the EH853AS and EH853DS robots can maintain a +/- 0.025mm (0.001 inch) repeatability. We also added an optional 620mm Z stroke for those applications such as packaging that require extra vertical reach. Bring this together with absolute encoders and an additional 50mm reach as compared to our popular previous generation TT8800 robots and you've got a robot ready to perform at new levels.

2) EH853S/853AS/DS Specifications
The EH853S Robot is a four axis unit with AC servo motors for reduced maintenance and harmonic drives for increased speed and reliability. The EH853S has a horizontal reach of 850mm (hence the name EH853S) and a Z Axis vertical stroke of 340mm. The EH853AS and EH853DS also have a horizontal reach of 850mm with Z Axis strokes available in 320mm and 620mm lengths along with an increased payload to 15Kg. The EH853S robots have a standard (1" x 12" x 1" and back) cycle time of 0.54 seconds and a repeatability of 0.025mm (0.001 in.)!

8) The Z-Axis for the EH853S comes standard with 340mm of stroke. The Z-Axis for the EH853AS comes standard with 320mm of stroke and the EH853DS comes with 620mm of stroke. The Z-Axis includes a brake that engages to hold tooling and payloads in place when servo motor power is removed. A brake release button is easily accessible on top of the axis for quick release and the quill is hollow which allows easy channeling of electrical and pneumatic lines.
10) Cycle time is the name of the game and just moving quickly in the XY plane isn't enough. This is why U Axis (or the tool rotational axis) speed is so important for most applications. The EH853S U Axis travels a full + 360 degrees with a top speed of 1142 deg/second.
12) The EH853S and EH853AS/DS robots come standard with Absolute Encoders. This means that they don't have to be sent to a home position when first powering the controller up. This can save valuable time during startup each day. Just power the EPSON RC+ Controller on, and the EH853S is ready to begin its work for the day.
