Let your students determine the dew point of the surrounding air and calculate the relative humidity without having to experiment at the crack of dawn! The unit utilizes an aspirator bulb to pump air through a liquid, such as alcohol, which lowers the temperature until the dew point is reached. The dew point can be seen as a film of moisture that builds up on the outside of the nickel-plated cup that is used to hold the alcohol. The cooling caused by the evaporation of the alcohol is what produces the moisture. The thermometer is used to measure the temperature when the dew point occurs. Consists of a chrome tube on a plastic base, thermometer, air bulb, and inlet tube and instructions. (3-1/2" x 3-1/2" base x 13"; 2Ibs).
