Of all of the electronic broadcasting products sold by Ramsey Electronics, this little transmitter is our favorite. This transmitter is a little harder to build than other Ramsey kits, but with a little experimentation and effort, you can legally broadcast your AM mono signal over a large coverage area without violating FCC Part 15 regulations. That is because under Part 15, restrictions on AM transmitters are placed on the signal strength output and on the antenna size, but not on the actual broadcast coverage area. With a little effort, patience, and dedication to understanding how AM broadcasting works, you can set up a nice little AM broadcast station capable of reaching a coverage area of city blocks or more. The secret is in proper antenna construction and placement. Directions for constructing an antenna are included in the user guide and plans may also be found in ample quantity on the Internet.
The AM25 operates anywhere within the standard AM broadcast band, and is easily set to any clear channel in your area. The design is similar to that of a commercial radio transmitter, so you'll learn how the "big guys" operate. It is widely used by school - standard output is 100 mW, with range up to 1/4 mile, but is easily jumper setable for higher output (up to 1000mW) where regulations allow. Once you have selected your desired broadcast frequency band, broadcast frequency is easily set with dip-switches and is stable without drifting. The transmitter accepts line level input from CD players, tape decks, etc. Includes case & knob set & high-quality 1000mA AC power supply. An antenna and ground cable is required for this unit and are not included. It is possible to build a simple home-made antenna which can be attached using an RCA connector.
Spare parts and copper wire to change frequencies are included, as well as a high-quality PS4 15VDC wall adapter.
