Wheaten Marans originated in western France in the town of Marans and are best known for their dark brown colored eggs.
The original French birds had feathered legs...Our Wheaten Marans have feathered legs as well...........
The egg color of our Wheaten Marans is quite good. As with all Marans, egg color can lighten occasionally during their laying season.....and then return to dark again after a period of rest ...

The male plumage of the Wheaten Marans is very similiar to a Black Copper Marans....A cinnamon colored "mirror" located on the lower portion of the wing marks an obvious difference in these two breeds. Wheaten Marans males average 8 lbs.
Females average 7 lbs and are truly stunning with their creamy wheaten plumage...
This beautiful breed is calm, graceful and gentle......
