During the two and one-half millennia since Siddhartha Gautama achieved spiritual enlightenment while meditating under a sacred fig tree, Buddhism has spread from India to Tibet, East Asia, and around the world. The images in this calendar include four thangkas portable devotional images used by nomadic Buddhists to record and teach contemplative techniques and an assortment of other Buddhist hanging scrolls from Tibet, Korea, China, and Japan.
