Can be mounted with either side against the wall.
The groove makes it easy to adjust a shelf or anything else you are using it for up and down or away from a wall. ( Depending on which way you mount it )
The groove is 1/2" wide and about 3-3/8" long.
The only thing marked on the L-bracket is : 97007112
