Interesting little linear actuator with limit switches
This linear actuator came from some laser equipment. It was used to move lenses back and forth. It consists of a gear reduction motor with a rack and pinion assembly. Inside the housing is a very small mechanical limit switch and outside, there is an adjustable inductance sensor. I tested it at 12vdc and the plunger took about 1 second to go through the full travel of about 5/8". The motor is 2 wire with permanent magets so reversing the polarity changes the motor direction. The housing is machined aluminum. This actuator is well made.
