* start capacitance is a good measure of soft start. A standard 3-phase motor used as an idler will take 3 to 4 time the capacitance and current.

We have engineered a finely tuned Idler/Generator made by Baldor Electric. It has the benefit of solid state winding integrated Soft Start, precision windings for the best voltage balance, and wound with wire that is designed to withstand the downstream voltage spikes that some CNC and VFD controlled equipment send back through the line. These features are only found on American Rotary Idlers
Save money with American Rotary's built-in motor starter and automatic controls. The converter will start automatically at the touch of the "START" button and is conveniently pre-wired for remote start and time delay. Every phase converter goes through a series of bench tests to make sure it is with in spec. We voltage balance our converters so that voltage sensitive equipment and significantly smaller loads will not see unbalanced currents. Among the tests done are line to line voltage balance, power-factor, phase shift, synchronous time constant (start time)
We put extra effort into making sure our components can withstand the demands of continuous phase conversion. This often means Thicker materials, tighter tolerances, and better quality control. The capacitor cores in the picture are being wound with a film that makes their voltage rating higher than normal because phase converters can often see higher voltages in startup.
Separate Control Panel & Idler/Generator
UL states that all control panels must be isolated from vibration and external heat sources. It is bad practice to mount a control panel directly to an idler motor for those reasons. Our control panels are designed to be mounted separately from the idler. This extends the life of the control panel by allowing components to be vibration free and extends the life of the idler by allowing it to cool properly.
The picture to the right is a Motor Start Capacitor. They determine the in-rush current when starting a rotary phase converter. Our Rotary phase converters start so easily (softly) that we only need 1/3 the capacitance of any other phase converter. Capacitance is a good measure of Soft Start.
When you upgrade your equipment, you can upgrade your American Rotary phase convert too. We have added special connections that make for easy "paralleling" of your rotary phase converter. Example: Turn a 10HP into a 20HP with the simple throw of a lever!

The same switch controls the three wire latching circuit which assures that the converter will turn off and not restart when the power is restored.
