MC433G 4 axis stepper motor g code controller 8A pwm

The MC433G is a multi-microprocessor controlled 4 Axis 8A Unipolar PWM Stepper Controller that attaches directly to a PC parallel port or serial port. Each channel supports variable PWM control and can be individually set for Wave step, Full step or Half step. Using four ATmega168 8bit RISC microcomputers and one ATmega644 processor the MC433G provides user adjustable initial on time, duty cycle and duty cycle slew rate using three potentiometers to match the drive characteristics of almost all stepper motors. Direction and step commands are fed to each channel through the PC compatible parallel port interface. The MC433G is designed for high performance unipolar stepping applications. The MC433G is an ideal choice to drive a CNC Sherline, TAIG or similar Mill with room to spare for larger CNC projects. The onboard G Code processor eliminates the need for a host G Code translator.
NOTE: Version 1.0 Motor Control Software is scheduled for release in late November 2009. The new motor control software supports a conversational communications protocol that allows PWM and other axis settings to be changed on the fly during board operation. The new software also allows each axis PWM settings to be individually set.
The MC433G has four AVR ATmega168 8 bit RISC microcontrollers to individually control the PWM output to each of the four motor ports and a fifth ATmega644 8 bit RISC that implements a G Code interpreter. Using high speed Power MOSFETs each channel can sustain 8A and peak at 33A ensuring support for the most demanding stepper application. Stepper input voltage may range from 7V to 35VDC with 24V being the best voltage level. Limit switch detection logic on each channel is routed to the parallel port connector for host software control of stepper halt. Four output control lines are available to control external relays or related devices via transistor boosted pull down logic. Power for board logic is jumper selectable from stepper motor supply or a seperate wall mount DC adapter.
The MC433G includes an onboard G Code processor that directly translates G Code commands into step/direction commands. The MC433G implements a sophisticated G Code interpreter supporting linear and circular interpolation on board eliminating the need to feed step/direction signals through the parallel port. The MC433G supports direct joystick attachment, an external display DRO48, smart joystick and other peripherals in the future. Communication with the MC433G is via an RS-232 or RS-485 port.
