Elimia rotary phase converter 7.5 hp with remote start
This is for a brand new 7.5 HP Elimia phase converter. Converts nominal 240 VAC single phase to 240 VAC three phase.
Unit was designed and built using all new high quality heavy duty components.
This unit has a heavy duty wall mount control panel and liquidtight conduit between the panel and motor. Wall mounting the control allows for better visibility of the amber status lights on the face of the panel.
This unit is equipped with a power-blink safety feature that prevents faulty starting during intermittent main power failures or power blinks to your shop. In the event your mains power drops out for even a second the converter powers down. This prevents the converter from coming back on and trying to start under load.
Heart of the converter is the heavy duty Reliance cast iron motor. This is a heavy duty totally enclosed, fan cooled (TEFC) motor with a service factor of 1.15. Insulation class is F. Nema frame size 213T. RPM 1740. Shaft has been removed for safety.
The controls include heavy duty Tyco contactors. The contactors are rated for 10HP. The unit is equipped with electronic starting. Others use a variety of starting methods but this technique forces the the starting capacitors out of the circuit at just the right time to keep them cool.
Everything is already included with the converter. There are no switches or parts to add. It includes everything except incoming and outgoing wiring. Terminal connections are located inside the control panel for your wiring.
The converter operates from one single on/off switch and a momentary pushbutton switch. You do not have to hold the pushbutton switch down and wait for your converter to come up to speed. You just push it and the electronic starting does the rest.
The controls include oil filled heavy duty GE brand motor run capacitors. The capacitors are not glue in the box. They are mounted with custom metal hold-downs. Connections to the capacitors and many other connections are crimped and soldered.
This a dual capacitor design that uses both start capacitors and run capacitors. Run capacitors are used on both legs of the single phase to achieve a more realistic 3rd phase.
This converter is balanced to run equipment from 1/10 HP to 5HP and provide phase matched voltages and angles within 5%. Our testing for this converter shows balance within 3.5%. This means that it can run sensitive voltage dependent equipment safely and consistently.
Input voltage 220/240 VAC single phase.
Output voltage 220/240 VAC three phase.
Output phase voltage L1/L2/L3 within 3.5% see pictures showing voltages under load.
Maximum output is 5.5 KW. Use your equipment ratings full load Amperage multiplied by your nominal 220/240 input voltage to determine.
We ran numerous test on this converter with various starting and running designs under various loads. The input voltage at my shop is pretty large for nominal 240 VAC. It usually runs around 238-245 VAC. Yours may range from 218 - 245 VAC give or take.
You will need to provide wiring from a 240 Volt double pole breaker to this unit. You will need to run #10 or larger wire depending on your needs, 12 gauge is ok for use with a 20 Amp DP breaker. The controls for the converter are 120 Volt. You will need to run a 120 Volt supply as well unless you can use one leg of the 240 VAC. If this is done the 240 VAC will need to be provided with two hot wires, a neutral and a ground. Otherwise the 120 VAC is required.
We are trying to make installation as easy as possible. Our converters include extra equipment that others don't. This saves you money in the long run.
Additional instructions will be included with the converter as well as a wiring schematic.
You should check with your local electrical codes and follow them. In areas where required a professional should be hired.
This unit includes our popular remote mount start and stop switches. Allowing you to power-up and shut down your converter from a convenient location. Wiring is stubbed at the control panel and at the start/stop switch box. You just add the wiring between the two... 14 or 16 gauge wiring is ok.
The converter has very little vibration but should fixed mounted, an inexpensive 2 X 4 assembly will do the trick.
This is a heavy duty machine made from heavy duty parts.
Control panel weighs 20 pounds.
