LUFKIN MASTER PRECISION LEVEL No.59 is 15 inches long and is a very sensitive and precise instrument. It must be handled with care to obtain the best results. In precision work, direct sunshine or draft of air, even the breath of the operator on the vial, should be avoided. For best results, the level, room temperature and work should all be the same temperature. The surfaces to be checked should be smooth and free from burrs or dirt. To check the level for accuracy place the level on a horizontal surface. Note the position of bubble to the left, for example, three divisions from center. Then reverse the level and position it in the same location. Note the position of bubble. If the reading is still three divisions the level is properly adjusted. Should the readings differ, remove the protective screw and adjust with a screwdriver until the two readings coincide. The unusually fine threads on the adjusting screw permit a more sensitive and accurate adjustment.
This level is extremely similar to the Starrett No.199 Master Precision Level .
