Remote Speaker Amplifier Kit for Motorola Radios
For use with Remote Mic Extension Cable Kits (please see my other listings)
Need to add remote extension speaker(s) to your radio? Here's a safe & affordable solution. By using the low-level receive audio output from the radio's accessory connector and amplifying it at the remote speaker location, you avoid loading down the radio's own speaker amp. This protects the radio from damage due to impedance mismatch, which can occur when multiple speakers are directly driven by the radio. And, with this kit, you get fully independent volume control, both at the radio and the remote speaker location, which can be difficult to achieve effectively when all speakers are directly driven by the radio. The frequency response of this amplifier is optimized for two-way radio use and sounds great, even at high volume in noisy environments.
This kit includes: (everything shown in PHOTO 1)
* 10-watt Auxiliary Speaker Amplifier (12 VDC @ 1 amp)
* Remote Volume Control pre-wired with 6-inch leads for simple hookup (soldering not required)
* Remote Volume Control surface mount enclosure with knob and cable grommet
* Wiring diagram and hookup instructions
The volume control enclosure is supplied blank (un-drilled), allowing the installer to select the potentiometer mounting position within the enclosure, and side or rear cable exit. Or, mount it in your own enclosure or panel (potentiometer panel hole diameter = 5/16", - cable grommet hole diameter = 3/8").
SIMPLE HOOKUP: (see PHOTO 2 for typical configuration)
1. Extend the green & white low-level receive audio leads (inside the Remote Mic Receptacle) out to the green & white leads of the volume control.
2. Extend the orange & white leads of the volume control to the input terminals of the speaker amp.
3. Connect the output terminals of the speaker amp to one or more user-supplied loudspeakers (2-16 ohms overall). Motorola two-way radio speakers sound great with this amp!
4. Connect the power terminals of the speaker amp to 12VDC.
