Once cutting begins, the user can release the trigger and allow the tension of the cutting force to hold the blade extended. Then, at the completion of the cut, the blade instantly retracts back into the handle. Also, built into the foot of the handle, is an easy-to-use dial that sets four different blade depths: 1 for single-wall corrugated boxes; 2 for double-wall boxes; 3 for utility cutting; and L for safely storing or locking the blade inside the cutter when not in use. * Instructions: Set the dial on top of the cutter to the desired blade dept setting. Position 1 - single wall boxes (90% of all cuts), Position 2 - double wall boxes, Position 3 - utility cut, Position L - lock position
* Squeeze trigger to expose blade. Release trigger once blade is engaged in the box. Caution - Once blade is engaged it will not automatically retract until pressure on the trigger is released. You may release pressure on the trigger once the blade is in the box and cutting.

* Loading blades: Top cover opens for blade change and spare blade compartment. The easy cut can hold 1 blade and 2 spare blades.
