Brown Leghorns are generally recognized as the most colorful of the Leghorn family. They, like all Leghorns lay white eggs, are non setters, have large combs, white ear lobes and yellow skin, shanks and feet.
Our Single Comb Brown Leghorns are "light" brown by the standard. The male is very handsome with orange hackle and saddle and black stripes in center of each feather. The female is a medium brown with delicate penciling. The wings are a darker brown and the breast is salmon colored. The chicks are very lively.
These birds are prolific Layers......
Brown Leghorns are a true staple for the person desiring a classic heritage breed that is a dependable and ABUNDANT egg producing chicken.
These are first year layers and are very healthy and active.
Rooster to hen ratio is 3 to 12 in this particular coop. Our best trio will show this Summer.
I believe our Brown Leghorn roosters are among the most handsome we raise..... A joy to observe........ :)

All of the hatching eggs at Gabbard Farms are gathered promptly, held at a cool 50 degrees and are turned daily during their 1-3 day storage to ensure freshness and maximize viability.....

(Seldom but occassionally, regardless of how carefully your eggs are packed, packages are mishandled and delicate eggs arrive broken....this is why we include extras...if you have MORE than your extras arrive broken....please contact us..)......
