Hobbs utility reel trailer, holds 8 foot diameter reel
This is a reel hauling trailer. It is designed to haul and hold reels of electric, water, or other types of hose and line. It is in good condition and is ready to be used.
I bought this trailer from a local electric company that used it to hold electric line. It holds a large single spool and has two big jack stands on the back so it can be used stationary to allow you to unroll the line as needed.
It will hold a reel spool up to 8 foot in diameter and the spool can be up to 5 1/2 feet wide.
It also has a very heavy duty type tension brake that is used to hold tension on the line as it is unrolled. The brake consists of a big bronze wheel with brake pads on both sides that you can move in and out with a hand wheel to adjust the pulling tension. It is in good condition and works great.
There is a tag on it that reads:
Serial Number: 1228789121100001
GVWR (trailer rating): 16,000 pounds
The trailer is 18 feet long. It is 7 feet, 6 inches wide. I do not know what it weighs for sure, but the tag reads that it weighs around 2900 pounds and that seems correct. It pulled fine behind my one ton pickup to get it home. I pulled it home 30 miles and it pulls great.
It has a heavy duty pintle hitch on the tounge that has a lot of adjustment up and down. If you need it adjusted so that you can pull it home with a truck with a different height hitch, we can change it for you.
The trailer has nice wide tires so it should be better than some on soft ground. The tires are size 12.00-20 and are 18 ply. The tires have a lot of tread, and they hold air fine. One of them looks like it has never been used, the tread looks brand new. The other one shows a little wear on the tread but it is still a low mile tire and is in very good condition. I would not be afraid to pull it anywhere on them..
The trailer has a semi landing gear style tounge jack. It is really heavy duty and has a spring retracted foot - nice!
I did not hook it up to a air brake truck, so I could not test them, but the brakes all look complete and in good order. They are air over hydraulic brakes and have some newer lines and fittings on them.
The lights on the trailer all worked fine. It has a larger type of plug than any of my trucks have, but we were able to test it on the truck from the utility company that pulled it.
The trailer has a big metal shaft that holds up the reel. It is in good condition. You can tell they took good care of the trailer and kept it well greased. There are locking clamps that you can adjust so that different width reels can be locked onto the shafts so that you can center the wire coming off the reels as needed.
The trailer could use a fresh coat of paint, but it is in very good condition otherwise. It is really well built and it is ready to be used.
