Unlike most lab vacuum ovens, this unit has a separate valve for purging the unit with an inert (or any other) gas. You simply draw a bit of vacuum using the valve on the front, then turn off the vacuum, then open up the gas line. You can then close the gas line and reopen the vacuum line to draw the pressure down as low as you like. This creates a vacuum with only an inert gas at low pressure in the chamber. It's very handy for a great number of uses. It also uses very little of your gas supply since you're not trying to push out the air with the inert gas, which can take a long time and a lot of gas to dilute out all the air. Compare this with other ovens and compare the price against others with this feature and you'll see what a bargain this item is!

DetailsThis is a lightly used unit in great shape. The unit has been fully tested. Pictures are of the actual unit for sale. The heater and temperature control have been tested and found to work. The vacuum and purge controls / valves have been tested and are in working order. The door seal is in perfect condition and the unit was evacuated to 15 in/Hg. Unit holds vacuum and the vacuum gauge works, although it could not be tested for accuracy it gives reasonable expected values for the vacuum applied.
Overall this unit is in great shape. There are a few small scratches on the exterior, but no rust or dents were noticed. The chamber is very clean and the shelves are in great shape. There are a few pieces of tape stuck to the unit and "195C" has been marked in marker on the dial area. Power cord is in good shape and it powers up and heats properly. All indicator lights, valves, dials, gauges, and seals are in working order.
The unit works great as a inert gas chamber, vacuum desiccator, lab oven, vacuum oven, drying chamber, etc., etc.. It is much easier to use than standard vacuum desiccators because of the easy controls, grease free door seal, and large chamber with shelves.
