12 + beautiful dark welsummer chicken hatching eggs

For sale are 12, plus extra, Large fowl Welsummer hatching eggs. My birds are a combination of Sandhill and Stromburg's stock which are both excellent lines. I have been working with them since 2005. These Welsummers are excellent layers of large, beautiful, dark speckled eggs, a picture doesn't do them justice(one visitor to the farm couldn't resist opening and reopening her carton of eggs to admire them!). Welsummer eggs are not as dark as the Marans eggs, The beauty of the Welsummer's egg lies in it's rich terra cotta coloring with dark speckling and varied degrees of spotting. In teh picture shown, I have shown a white egg and a brown egg for comparison. The roosters are calm and good natured , I breed for good temperament and neither I or the grandkids have had to worry about turning our back on them. The Welsummers are a richly colored black breasted red color pattern which can be sexed at hatch by the different head markings on the males and females, the females having a prominant V marking on the head.
I feed the birds a starter as new chicks, then grower. When they get close to laying age I give them a breeder ration(to make sure that I get eggs that hatch well) but if you aren't hatching a lot of eggs, a layer ration would work just fine for the chickens. I also supplement with Whole oats that I throw on the ground or coop floor for them to scratch around for and good alfalfa hay, also grass clippings and veggie trimmings(mine also get a little fermented milk and probiotics, only because I have a milk cow and have extra). I put a little hay in the coops every day or 2, gives them some good nutrition and greens as well as something to do. In addition to oyster shell, I also give mine DE, I find that it helps the quality of the egg shell. DE is also helpful to put into a dusting box for the chickens if you ever had problems with parasites(lice, etc). I give Zinc methionine supplement as an immune boost as I don't use antibiotics and my research has shown that the zinc helps build up immunity to fight disease and infection in poultry just like it does in humans, zinc methionine being the most absorbable for animals. I probably do a little more for the birds than is necessary for a laying flock but I like to make sure that I have the best egg quality possible.
