The TDC1 requires two types of batteries: (a) two 1.5 V lithium cells for back up power, (b) two 9 V batteries. You should install new lithium and 9 V batteries prior to your survey if the TDC1 has not been used for many months.
The Trimble Data Collector (TDC1) has one megabyte of memory. 6500 records can be stored (3.6 hours of continuous data collected at 2 second intervals).
While conducting a RTK survey, push the [GPS] key on the TDC1 keyboard to have access to the following 7 menues:
* Take reading (only when in roving mode)
Press [View] at any time to view the database of the current job.
Press [Note] at any time to write a short note in the current database.
In addition to digital data entered using the [Note] key, you can create feature codes either using TRIMMAP software or on the TDC1. Entering feature codes on the TDC1 is much easier and allows you to edit feature codes in the field without requiring a PC laptop computer with TRIMMAP software.
To create or edit a feature code:
1. Select FUNC and then Feature Codes
2. Select ADD to input a new feature code. Enter "name" in . Scroll down to the "0" field and enter the number of attributes (attributes are either alpha or numeric). Press [OK].
3. If you want to add attributes, highlight the feature code again and press EDIT. Scroll down to Info 1 and type in description of Info 1 attribute. Scroll down to "Type ->" and scroll right to select "alpha" or "numeric". If you have more attribures, continue to Info 2 and so on, typing attribute descriptions and selecting "alpha" or "numeric".
4. Press [OK] when finished.
