* * The New Departure C type seal consists of a metal ring pressed on the land of the inner ring and functions as a slinger. It is enclosed by two formed metal shield members crimped into the seal-receptor groove in the outer ring, thus forming a close clearance labyrinth between slinger and enclosing members. The centrifugal action of the slinger traps lubricant in the labyrinth and gives an almost frictionless sealing effect.
