Dedicated MicroProcessor Controller for great performance
The heart of the laser machine is the industry leading Leetro controller. The 6515 controller is connected to the computer by USB connection. The Computer downloads the project to the 6515 Controller and it does all the work, leaving the computer and operator free to work on the next project. The dedicated Leetro controller has 128MB RAM onboard to hold many of your largest projects without re-downloading from your computer.
The laser machine can be equiped with a chiller or water pump and tank. In either case, the coolant must keep the laser tube from over heating. This check sensor ensures the laser will not be allowed to fire without proper coolant flow. It is typical for us to use a mixture of glycol (or Antifreeze) and water as the coolant fluid.
The air pump is used for three basic reasons. The primary reason is the push fumes away from the laser's focal lens. This protects the lens from contaminants which could destroy the lens. The second function of the air pump is to push air into the material's kerf as created by the laser beam. Air that is applied to the kerf will remove debris/fumes and allow the laser light to penitrate deeper through the material. The third reason is that the air will help to cool the material. If the laser cut/engraved material stays hot, then it could warp or shrink. This air pump is a diaphram style which does not require oil. Oil or water in the air line could be projected directly onto the focal lens. This air pump has a higher air flow rate and is quieter than other piston stroke designs.
The vacuum blower creates an air flow to remove dust and fumes from the work area of the laser machine. It is important to remove the dust and fumes from the laser engraving areas because dust can settle onto the mirrors or lens. Dust on the mirrors or lens will create a focal point of the laser's heat and soon destroying the optics. The fumes need to be removed from the operator work area because they can be irritating and unhealthy. The blower can also be connected to a vaccum box to pull air through the work material.
The air that exits the laser machine can be controlled by this vent damper. It allows the operator to select what proportion of air can be pulled from above or below the work surface.
This motor is used to move the Z-Axis table/surface height. The maximum space available under the laser flying head is about 10 inches. This motor moves the height with the simple push of the button. The motor uses a metal chain to turn the four jack-screws, one at each corner of the work table. This metal chain design is superior to all other laser machine table deisgns that use stepper motors and rubber belts to lift their table. The stepper motors do NOT have the strength to lift a loaded table and the rubber belts are prone to stripping teeth or skipping out of alignment.
The Z-Axis motor controller board uses Solid State Relays to switch motor on, off and control the direction. The solid state relays are quieter than normal relays, controlled by a smaller power source, and last longer.
The limit switches prevent the axis from attempting to go beyond the mechanical limits of the machine. Some machines can be equipped with autofocus sensor which ties into the control board. The sensors for the X and Y axis are non-contact sensors which yeild a more repeatable position over the life of the machine.
It is always nice to check on the progress of the project that is currently running. The laser machine has a viewing window through the main access door ...and this interior light works great for providing enough light to see what is happening inside.
The laser machine frame is built with doors that allow materials to extend out the front and/or rear of the machine. The is helpful when engraving or cutting material that cannot fit completely inside the machine. Examples: Engraving pictures onto a bathroom shower door. Rolls of fabric threaded into the rear door, engraved or cut, and then pulled out the front door. Engraving the front door to my house. Engraving very large mirrors or sheets of glass. No limits to the imagination.
The various models of laser machines can weigh from 250 to more than 1200 pounds. Every machine is equipped with castor wheels to make it easier to move it around the workshop or office.

Many companies purchase a laser machine that is slightly bigger than what the current needs are demanding. This gives the company room to grow. You might also wonder if the machine itself would even fit into your business... Do you have small doorways? NOT on the bottom floor of the building? Irregular doors or narrow office hallways? Don't worry about that. This laser machine is designed to remove the base section and take it through your office to the back room. Check out the web page describing how we have done a "narrow move".

Questions posed by other sellers. ..and things to look out for.
Q: Am I going be able to operate the machine?
A: Yes, you can operate the machine, because the software is made easy to use, you will be provided with user manual on how to operate the software, I will be happy to answer emails within a reasonable amount of time, you can call any time between 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM if you have a quick question..I am sure I can help. (***)-320-2748.
Q: Am I going be able to trouble-shoot problems?
A: Yes! The standard manual includes a set of instructions to trouble shoot problems in the software, optical system, mechanical system & electronic system. Use common sense and really get to know your machine. Be aware of when it starts to act different and KEEP IT CLEAN. The easiest way to fix a problem is to ask me for some help. .. send an email.
Q: Am I going to be able to change parts if the machine down for any reason?
A: Yes. The wiring is organized and simple to trace. No manufacturer likes to give out a schematic of their products (makes it easy to copy the machine) but replacing parts is rather easy. There are labels on each device and connectors for everything. When you face a problem with your machine, I can help you troubleshoot the issues and identify which part needs to be replaced. Many of the required replacement parts are on the open market or can be gained from the manufacturer at no charge. I can help with that.
Q: Am I going to have a technician at my site fixing my machine, if needed?
A: Yes, you can have a technician at your site, some conditions apply .. and charges too. call me. (***)-320-2748.
Q: Am I going to be able to have all the spare parts for the future?
A: Yes! We sell these laser machines here. We have a stock of spare parts at my office in Ohio. You can otherwise purchase ALL of the required replacement parts on the open market or can be gained from the manufacturer at small charges
Q: "Somebody else has a similar machine for $5000. Can you drop your price?"
Q: Is this a Glass Tube Laser?
A: Yes.. This is a glass laser tube. the replacement 60Watt Laser tubes cost about $350 (glass) .. The RF metal cartirdge lasers cost MUCH more.. several thousand dollars for just the laser cartidge replacement or a few thousand dollars for the rework of your existing RF metal cartridge laser. The manufacturer states the expected life of this glass laser is 1300 to 3000 hours. The RF Metalic cartridge should last 4 or 5 times longer, but costs 20 times as much.. This is a great machine for small businesses that can't afford (or don't want to pay) the high costs of US-made mainline lasers.
Q: What is the projected life of the laser tube and mirrors? What is the replacement cost and availability of both? Oct-22-08
Q: I am needing a laser to cut out shapes in plastic styrene. 1 mm to 3mm thick. What would be the best system to use?
A: This sounds like a trick questions. How big are the styrene sheets? How detailed are the shapes? How fast do you want to cut? I am sure that this 60 watts and 24x36 inch work area should be great for a project.. It depends on it the project gets bigger.
Q: Wow, I'm very impressed with the level of detail and explanation that you provide in your listing. Since you are knowledgeable about laser engravers, I'm hoping you can answer a question. I'm looking for an easy way to 'cut' 4 inch letters of the alphabet out of sandpaper using a windows based font. Initially these would be for use at my wife's preschool, but I could see manufacturing more for resale. Would you recommend this machine or anything else that might be smaller?
A: You could easily use this machine. You could also use the smallest machine we have.. The FL-40A. It could cut the sandpaper without a problem.. and it will fit the size requirement. You should not need the high power laser, but you will need to go slower. There are many laser machines out there to do the job for you. I think I could set you up with a great solution. I have some software that will convert True Type Fonts to DXF.. you can then imprt the letters into the cutting software.. Should be pretty easy.
Q: You mention that this is your 4th machine. Do you have any smaller machines available? I only need a 40-50 watt machine with a 12"x24" table.
A: This machine is a great size for small businesses. Some projects need only a small machine.. but projects often get larger as the company grows. I can order laser machines that are smaller than the machine listed here. I have already ordered many machines to be delivered soon. One model is a desktop laser: 50 watts, 11.8x19.7 inches work area, USB, 55mm engrave/cutting lens (55, 63, 110 mm lens options). Another model is a small rolling cabinet laser: 40/60 watts, 15.7x23.6 inches, USB or PCI control system, 55-63-110mm lenses available, fine mesh table. I would be happy to talk with you about these machines.
Q: Can this laser engrave on clear arcylic? We are using a CNC router to engrave letters and graphics on 1/2" thick clear acrylic. Can the laser cut down to about 1/4" and make a fairly smooth surface at the bottom of the cut?
A: I have never tried to cut down 1/4 inch into acrylic..as if to be the router. That sounds like the basic "grade engrave" function. The depth of the cut is dependant on the power and speed setting. I don't know how smooth it will be. I have done the "grade engrave" on wood and rubbers. I haven't tried it on plexiglass or acrylic.. I will check it out soon. (Update*** It has been tested to engrave name tags and repeatably cuts to a desired depth. The deep cutting causes debris to accumulate to the near surfaces. The surface at the bottom of the cut is quite textured like stipple art. Pictures to be posted on the web site.)
