The Conventional Orion Mobile is a high performance radio that offers the flexibility of narrowband (12.5 kHz) or wideband (25/30 kHz) operation. Orion's cast-metal transceiver enables it to function in demanding environments. Orion meets or exceeds MIL-STD-810C, D, and E for shock and vibration, driven rain, dust, salt fog, humidity, and temperature extremes. In addition, the microphone and speaker meet MIL-STD-810. The Orion mobile radio is field programmable with an IBM -compatible PC. The Orion also uses FLASH programmable memory that allows the user to upgrade the radio quickly and cost-effectively without replacing components or opening the radio. The Orion mobile protects the user's investment by assuring backward compatibility and forward migration. Users may add new features to the radio as their requirements change.
