ONAN MARINE SOUND SHIELD HOUSING KIT.
Generator sound proof , soundproofing unit.
I have a limited supply of these housings and many of them are in boxes that have been in storage for 20 years. The package boxes may not be in new condition but the housing should be in relatively good condition. I cannot promise you that it will be perfect. Please expect there to be small dents, blemishes, scratches and quite possibly a musty smell inside the box. Once the unit is assembled and you have wiped it down you should not have any complaints.
I will not be checking the contents of the kit because most are stapled up real well and are in the original Onan factory package.
The literature states that it is designed for marine diesel units MDJB (begin spec J ) and MDJE series generator sets.
The outside dimensions are: 28.5" high x 23 9/16" wide x 39-1/16" long .
The inside dimensions are approximately: 36" long x 22" wide x 25" high.
Please remember that there is insulation lining on all the inside surfaces. I'm sure that you could alter the inside inlet and outlet baffles if it was necessary to make a little more room for your unit.
Units have been in storage for over 20 years and may show a few blemishes, dings and scratches.
The one in the pictures has just come out of the original factory box so I could put it together.
The top is fiberglass, the sides are like 16 gauge steel and the base is 1" thick painted and (maybe) marine grade plywood. It has the necessary air inlet and outlet holes. There is a drip pan setting in the bottom. The walls are lined with stiff fiberglass soundproofing material.
The hardware kit is pictured and includes air cleaner adapter, hose and elbow tube.
This unit is for inside use and NOT designed to keep the weather out. All generators must exhaust to the outside air. Consult a professional before installation.
