Neodymium Magnets, or Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnets are composed of Nd, Fe, B, Dy, Co and other minor elements.
Neodymium Magnet is also known as NdFeB magnet, which is one of the so called rare earth magnets since it contains the rare earth element Nd (Neodymium). Neodymium magnets are so far the strongest magnets which can be produced massively and available in the reasonable price. Normally the neodymium is 7 to 8 times stronger than the ceramic magnets.
Neodymium magnet is in light gray but since it contains iron, it will rust in air. So 90% of neodymium are coated. The coating material can be Nickle, Zinc or Epoxy etc. All of our magnets are actually 3 layer coated, nickle+copper+nickle. This will greatly increase the coating durability.
What needs to mention is that all types of magnets are fragile, so is the neodymium magnet. The coating of the neodymium magnet is only for rust proof and it will not make the magnet mechanically stronger.
