This is a Micro-balance, not just an analytical balance. It is a Micro balance made by Sartorius, Model 1802 with an accuracy of 0.001 mg ( 1 ug ) for up to 30 g. Very similar the to newer Sartorius Model ME5. Includes manual dials for adding 1 to 9 mg, 10 to 90 mg, and 100 to 900 mg by built in weight rings. It is a double pan balance with two 30 mm weighing pans. Using an additional precision weight set ( not included - but available at an additional minor cost ), it can be used to weight up to 30 g total. It also has a unique, no-touch, lever loading feature with an automatic window to mount samples without opening the side windows or touching the balance pans. It also includes an adjustable light and power supply for the vernier scale.
Sartorius has long been known as one of the top manufacturers of Laboratory balances. This particular Model has been a workhorse for many years where high precision and accuracy are needed with simple, repeated operation, such as in Forensics, micro- Biology, separations, trace analysis, depositions, and contaminants, and R & D.
Overall size is 12-1/2" x 10-1/2" x 14" with glass windows on four sides for convenient viewing at all angles. Front glass is 9-1/2" x 11"; top is 8-1/2" x 9", and sides approximately 4-1/2" x 5". For comparison, the new, similar Model ME5 is priced at over $18,000 with similar specifications.
