For sale: 12 Silver Lakenvelder Hatching Eggs.
These are a rare breed of chicken, very close to the size of a leghorn. The birds wheigh in around 4 lbs. The eggs is medium sized whitish egg. They are excellent foragers and layers. The breed is a bit flighty, also like a leghorn. They lay well year round. We have had good luck with this breed and are striving to improve the coloring of the birds. The goal is to darken the black around the neck and tails and whiten the white. Most of the birds from the hatcheries have been diluted down with a leghorn mix, and the black coloring isn't as black as it once was.
