This is a cypress medium super (6 5/8" deep) for 10 frame Langstroth hives. It is precision milled with rabbet rails and joints. Then hand selected, glued with premium exterior wood glue, clamped square, and fastened with zinc plated screws. Beautiful wood professionally assembled. We go a bit further, because the best wood deserves the best construction. The handles are under cut on all four sides for a slip free grip. You can prime and paint it if you want, it holds paint well; but doesn't need it. The oils and resins in the wood protect if from rot and pests. Hope you enjoy using it as much as we did building it.
Rabbet Joints- Allows us to thoroughly and evenly glue the full length of the joint with premium exterior wood glue.
Hand selected after milling- Sometimes things happen to wood during milling we don't expect. You don't get those pieces.
Glued- The best exterior wood glue available generously applied to both surfaces.
Clamped and Screwed- The large box clamps we use make sure the pieces remain perfectly aligned while they are fastened with zinc plated screws.
Under cut handles- The handles are cut back up into the sides by 15 degrees, so even if you paint them, and there is dew on them; they can't slip.
