Bunn cds ultra auger shaft seals and bushings
This is a pair of brand new auger shaft seals and a pair of auger shaft bushings for the Bunn CDS-2, CDS-3 or Ultra-2 machine. These seals may be the most important maintenance item on your machine. These seals go around the auger shaft and seal product from leaking around the auger shaft at the front of the cooling drum and into the auger shaft alley inside the cooling drum. These seals are recommended for replacement every six months. If these seals fail and product leaks into the auger shaft alley, you won't know you have a problem until damage is done. You get two seals with each purchase. These seals are included in the periodic maintenance kits we offer in our store.
You also receive two of the blue plastic auger shaft bushings that sit directly behind these seals. These bushings go between the auger shaft and the cooling drum, and are designed to wear out instead of the auger shaft or the cooling drum. They should be replaced every six months. Food grade lubricant should lightly coat the inside of these bushings - there should be no lubricant on the outside of the bushings. Ideally the bushing will not move, but the auger shaft will spin inside the bushing.
The auger shaft is removed, the cooling drum is cleaned, the bushings are removed and replaced, then these seals are installed. Be sure to use no lubricant on the outside of the seals, and apply food grade lubricant only to the inside of the seals. The seals must be fully seated into the cooling drum. When properly installed the seals will not move - the auger shaft will rotate inside the seals.
