Partridge Cochin's are heavily feathered down the shanks and toes, and appear to be much larger than they actually are.
They are very gentle, excellent setters, and require little space.
The male's saddle and hackle feathers are a rich, brilliant orange-red combined with a greenish-black body-makes for extremely eye catching birds.
The female is feathered with a glossy mahogany brown feather penciled in black. The male and female have distincly different plumage.
The standard size for a mature roosters is 32 ounces and the standard size for a mature hen is 28 ounces. The hens are good layers of cream tinted eggs and are broody.
I would recommend this breed for youth because they are very gentle and require minimum space.
