The Dual Supply Automatic Tire Inflator is a simple, safe compact pressure-controlling unit that provides an accurate means of simultaneously inflating two aircraft tires of the same pressure. This system uses a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to control the tire inflator's filling system, monitor the results with positive visual and audible indication of completion or failure via an annunciation panel with lights and alarms.
The safety cage provides containment during the filling process to protect against personal injury or damage should the tire rupture or a wheel bolt fail. The Tire Inflation Safety Cage walls are solid steel panels continuously welded and wood lined to absorb any impact. The solid steel doors are uniquely designed with heavy duty double hinges so they must be push in before they can be opened out, preventing them from being the least path of resistance should a failure occur. The roof of the safety cage is reinforced with steel bars to contain large fragments and is covered in heavy metal mesh that allows debris from a failure to travel up away from personnel.
