It was manufactured by the Sauber Mfg. Company and was new in 1986.
The tag on the trailer reads the following:
Axle weight rating: 10,000Empty weight: 3100
The trailer is 17 1/2 feet long, 7 feet, 9 inches wide, and six feet tall.
It is 17 1/2 feet long from the tip of the pintle hitch to the very back of the trailer.
The box part of the trailer is five 1/2 feet wide, 12 feet long, and 2 feet tall to the top of the rails. The box has a nice drop down endgate that locks in place.
The tires are in very good condition. They are flotation tires which are nice if you have to get off the road with it. They are size 10:00-15 and have excellent tread and have not been used hardly at all. They are very good tires and each tire has a rating of 6950 pounds.. I would not be afraid to pull it anywhere on them.
There are two jackstands on the back that will drop down if you want to use the trailer stationary. The jackstands have a neat design with a locking hand clamp that you just move to allow them to drop down and then it clamps into place. They are really heavily built.
The top edge of the sides of the box have rings welded in place to allow you to tie a rope to hold things in place or to hook a ratchet strap. There are also on the drivers side, two sets of locking brackets that are used to store the reel shafts out of the way so you can use the trailer to haul stuff without the shafts being in the way.
The brakes are air over hydraulic brakes. They do not have spring parking brakes on them, so you can pull it with any truck even if you do not have the air brakes hooked up. I pulled it with a pickup, so I do not know if the brakes work or not. Every trailer I have ever bought from this company works good, they maintain them well. This trailer has a newer air chamber on the brakes and a newer light plug. The light plug is a larger style than I have on my trucks so I could not test the lights, but they look complete and in good condition.
There is a hand brake on the tounge that works great as a parking brake. It holds the trailer in place when you unhook it or if you use it stationary so that you don't have to put blocks on the wheels.
There are heavy duty steel shafts that are used to hold the reels in place. They are in good condition. They will hold a five feet wide reel and it can be up to 6 1/2 feet in diameter. They have bushings on each end with a lifting eye formed onto them so you can use a crane or a hydraulic digger derrick to load and unload the reels. They latch in place once you load them onto the trailer. There is a brake system for each reel shaft that allows you to apply tension to the shafts while you unroll the electric line or whatever you have on the reels. That way you can keep the wire tight and the reel will not overspool and get tangled up. There are handles you can spin to apply more or less tension to the brakes and they work great. The brake pads are in excellent condition. The disc the pads rub on to create tension is made of brass or bronze so that it will not overheat or wear like steel will.
There is a good heavy duty jack on the tounge that works great. You can pull a pin on the side and then just push down the base of the jack with your foot and then it locks in place so you don't have to run the crank so much. Then when you want to raise the jack, you just pull the knob on the side and a spring pulls up the base of the jack. This is a very heavily built trailer. The pictures don't really show how well constructed it is out of heavy wall steel and heavy plate. It is a very well designed trailer.
This trailer is in good working condition. The only thing the trailer needs is a new owner to put it back to work
